Probably the best specified Southerly 38 to have come to market, with an upgraded engine (56HP) that was last serviced in February 2025, 75kg thrust bow and stern thrusters, Balmar high output alternator and double head sail, Which gives her an additional speed of about 1.5 knots over the standard rig. She is a purposeful boat in excellent order.
It is obvious that the owner has taken good care of her with covers aplenty. The cockpit is a lovely place to be with a full cockpit tent to keep the elements at bay and create an additonal space to relax.
The twin helms have duplicate controls (twin chart plotter) giving all the required information regardless of which tack you are on.
Down below is more good news with a very spacious saloon with folding table. Once open this gives scope to entertain, head height is good enough for even the tallest sailor and all furnishings are of an excellent standard.
The galley is well equipped with a gas hob and oven, microwave and sink.
The forward cabin offers a generous double berth with lockers and storage space. A Jack’n’Jill arrangement for the heads allows access from both the cabin and saloon, and again is a good height allowing for a shower (attachment is off the basin).
To Aft is another amazing cabin with an island bed and seating to each side with plenty of storage and room to move about, again a Jack’nJill arrangement to the heads provides convenient access from both the cabin and saloon.
Northshore Southerly Yachts are renowned for making well-built cruiser racers with excellent seaworthiness and are proven ‘blue-water’ yachts. They comfortably hold their own against Najads, Hallberg Rassys, Malos and Swan Yachts to name a few in the upper luxury bracket and have an enviable reputation amongst knowledgeable offshore sailors.
Unlike her competition she has the powered lifting keel that enables her to explore estuaries and go places usually the preserve of smaller yachts.
A huge sail plan is included with a fully battened main, Self tacking furling Jib, overlapping furling Genoa and furling Gennaker. The double head sails make downwind sailing incredibly fast and easy, with a reported additional 1 knot comfortably achieved
